Cultivating a positive mindset, learning to grow from failure and developing a sense of self are just some of the crucial skills our students need, particularly in these challenging times. In this talk, I will be looking at how we can use our unique position as language teachers to encourage our students both to study well and to live well.

12.00-12.40 – How to be a Plastic Detective: Researching Plastic Pollution -

Dr. Imogen Napper

Dr Imogen Napper is a marine scientist and her research focuses on investigating sources of plastic pollution. Previously being described as a 'Plastic Detective', Dr Napper's work has taken her around the world to investigate how plastic gets into our environment. Dr Napper will take you on a journey of her research from microbeads in facial scrubs all the way to plastic near the top of Mt. Everest.

Most importantly, she will share tips and solutions about how you can also join her in being a 'Plastic Detective' with your students, and how this will positively affect their learning experience and mental wellbeing.
